Ocean County to Celebrate Lithuanian Heritage

TOMS RIVER - The Ocean County Board of Chosen Freeholders is hosting the twelfth annual Lithuanian Flag Raising Ceremony at noon, Wed., Feb. 11, at the Ocean County Administration Building, 101 Hooper Avenue, here.

The ceremony marks the 91st anniversary of the Lithuanian Declaration of Independence, after more than 120 years of Czarist Russian rule.

"We welcome our friends and neighbors of Lithuanian descent to this flag raising ceremony," said Ocean County Freeholder Director John C. Bartlett, Jr. "We are pleased to participate in the celebration of their independence by proclaiming this day Lithuanian Independence Day in Ocean County."

The American Lithuanian Club of Whiting is sponsoring the ceremony.
